Our Malanda clinic has state-of-the-art equipment and facilities for all equine services. The registered equine hospital and surgery has been examined and approved by the Queensland Veterinary Surgeons Board. The facilities are purpose built intensive care stables, facilities for intensive care foals, isolation stables (for possible infectious diseases or diarrhea cases) and outdoor yards and shelters for housing mares for artificial insemination or for horses recovering from minor procedures or staying for the day.

Our Charters Towers clinic also has stables for hospitalisation of patients located at the rear of the clinic as well as a purpose-built horse room with stocks for standing surgeries and minor procedures including reproductive procedures and radiology.

Our mixed practice clinics have modern equipment including:

• Digital Radiology (DR) – Radiology can be performed on-farm or in-clinic, and the results can be examined immediately on the laptop. This means that severely lame horses can be examined in the field and do not need to be transported to the clinic. Some non-emergency procedures, like lameness examinations and associated radiology, are usually performed at the clinic because the horse is often required for a longer period and the radiographs can be examined in more detail on the high-resolution viewer at the clinic.
• Esaote MyLab Gold 35 – This is a modern, purpose-built veterinary ultrasound that allows detailed examination of the abdomen, chest, tendons, joints, bursas and other structures (for example the eye) that are not easily examined via normal ultrasounds or radiology for example.
• Video endoscopes – Video endoscopes allow the examination and sampling of the upper respiratory tract and lungs so that horses with chronic coughs or poor performance can be properly examined and treatment initiated. Endoscopy on your property by fiberoptic endoscope is also available.
• Reproductive equipment – includes a portable ultrasound for reproductive ultrasound examinations at the clinic or on your property, portable stocks and trailer, artificial insemination equipment, embryo transfer equipment and stallion collection equipment for chilling, shipping and freezing.
• Ophthalmological equipment – Panoptic ophthalmoscope for thorough examination of the back of the eye as well as the anterior (front) parts of the eye, ultrasound for examination of injured eyes and a tonometry for testing the pressure within an eye (for assessing glaucoma or other problems).
• Portable trailer and stocks – We have three trailers with horse stocks (crush) based at our Malanda, Edmonton and Charters Towers clinics. These trailers allow us to safely and comfortably provide a range of services at your property including dentistry, pregnancy and follicle scans in mares, standing surgery and stitch ups and for the occasional naughty needle-shy horse!
